Stockholm dancing to Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It’ (Tribute)

by on Jan.13, 2012, under Dance Training

Rihannas-Rehab.de.vu http Rihannas-Rehab.de.vu Please visit my fansite about Rihanna ! RIP Michael Jackson READ THIS BouncE flash mob tribute to Michael Jackson in Stockholm. I would never have thought it possible. Either times are a-changing or Michael Jackson really holds influence on Swedes because I wouldnt have believed you could get people to dance in central Stockholm. Definitely not as an ensemble. And yet, the proof is unmistakable in this. Dance sensation group, BouncE, organized this flash mob (new term for me, too) tribute putting together very impromptu choreography to Jacksons Beat It and getting the crowd at Sergelstorg and Central Station to pull it off. (You really just have to watch the video.) I am not surprised that the Dance cooperative BouncE could either conceive this or pull it off. Theyve been making dance waves in Sweden for over a decade. Theyre really just a band of dancers from all sorts of dance disciplines who got together to do funky dance stuff. Some of the founders have formal dance training and others have just got street hip-hop roots. Theyre the dance worlds equivalent to the garage rock band. I got to meet them back in 2003 before their smash hit performance The Score kicked off. It sold out Dansenshus for extended months on end. A truly amazing performance. Back to my surprise. Swedes arent public, collective dancers. They dont get up and volunteer to do flash mobs. They wont march on the capital to beat down the prime ministers door

“Speaks to young people seeking creative fulfillment” – The Hollywood Reporter “A joyful portrait! Inspiring and well-crafted” –Variety DANCING DREAMS, directed by Anne Linsel and Rainer Hoffmann, documents an ambitious effort by a group of inexperienced teenage dancers to conquer the complex work of master German choreographer, Pina Bausch. Shortly before her untimely death in 2009, Bausch recruited a group of 40 students with little to no formal dance training to explore new ways of expression and connectivity. With the venerated instructor as their guide, the students develop intense physical skills and dig into new emotional realms which translate from the studio and into their daily lives. In German with English subtitles, DANCING DREAMS captures the transformative process and shares the growth, intimacy and aspirations of these young dancers.
